Message from the Dean

While one of the trivets of academic thought and creation is to follow a scientific method, the other which is at least important as it, is the sensorial-heuristic talents. As Sakarya University Department of Art Design and Architecture, the essential principles which are overseen in both hypothetic and applied education is  to approach all humanistic proficiencies in equal distance and to provide the young individuals, who are graduated from high schools, to take their first step for raising a person of thought and arts.

Sakarya University Department of Art Design and Architecture has been continuing its education and training life over 20 years with 6 professors, 17 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors, 25 Research Assistants, and 10 lecturers as a total of 68 academicians and 9 administrative personnel is aninstitutionalized faculty of arts and design. The expert academic staff continues the education including Departments of Painting, Ceramics and Glass, Traditional Turkish Arts and Visual Communication Design with a total of 798 students and as per 2014-2015 academic year, 491 students in the Department of Architecture.  Council of Higher Education has accepted the opening of Industrial Design, Graphics and Interior Architecture Departments in 2009 and Urban and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture Departments in 2013, which will start education when the physical space and academic staff areprovided.

Transitivity of the disciplines, define the direction of academic training all over the world, while Sakarya University Department of Art Design and Architecture is based on aninstructional plan established with dialog through departments.  While propounding works in all departments which are inspired from the universal creative power of arts, the aim is to raise individuals who can get to the core of the subject, to master the philosophy and own critical thinking. Our main target is to support creativity and productivity in order to let the artistic structure of the society meet with the universal values and to raise qualified students in artistic meaning.  "
